Banning gun sales to young American adults under 21 is unconstitutional, judge rulesDENISE LAVOIE Thu, May 11, 2023 at 7:17 PM EDT RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A federal judge in Virginia has ruled that a law banning licensed federal firearms dealers from selling handguns to young adults under 21 violates the Second Amendment and is unconstitutional. The ruling Wednesday by U.S. District Court Judge Robert Payne in Richmond, if not overturned, would allow dealers to sell handguns to 18- to 20-year-olds. In his 71-page ruling, Payne wrote that many of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship are granted at the age of 18, including the right to vote, enlist in the military without parental permission and serve on a federal jury. “If the Court were to exclude 18-to-20-year-olds from the Second Amendment's protection, it would impose limitations on the Second Amendment that do not exist with other constitutional guarantees,” Payne wrote. ... www.yahoo.com/news/virginia-judge-says-law-banning-231750068.html

I agree with that ruling for two reasons...
1> As the judge pointed out, it doesn't pass the test mandated by the recent Bruen decision that SCOTUS decided (gun laws must adhere to the "historical tradition of firearm regulation")
2> "Adulthood rights" should all be conveyed at one age. It's unfair that someone can be drafted, go to war, and be killed "for their country" at 18... but can't have a beer or legally buy a firearm from a licensed dealer. We need to pick one age of adulthood and all the "Adult rights" (as well as the "Adult responsibilities") get conveyed at that age.
